Importing Kate

Kate Miller-Heidke.  Not a name you would likely recognize around here, though she's a star Down Under.  I picked up her CD at B&N about two weeks ago, and dang! this album is good.  Her cover looks vaguely Gaga-esque (platinum hair piled up in a Marie Antoinette style and embellished with an Alice clock).  Frankly I was expecting something less inspiring than our newest pop idol.  I couldn't have been more wrong.  Not only does each and every song have a good hook, but listen hard to the lyrics and you get more than just a clever ditty.  "...if we were the last two people in the world, the human race would face extinction.. before I'd get it on, honey...if you're God's gift to women, then God got it wrong."  When I'm looking for fab singles to put in my mixes, I can usually get a couple of songs out of a really good album.  Kate is going to be in my mixes for a while because almost every song on "Curiouser" fits my criteria.  If you like pop, you should definitely check her out.
