Whose Mix Is It Anyway?
Music and mood go hand in hand. Take the same song and change one thing about it, like the tempo, and you have a completely different animal. For example, Track 14, "The Boy in the Bubble" performed by Peter Gabriel. The original from Paul Simon on the Graceland album was fairly upbeat. But Gabriel's version makes the lyrics infinitely sadder just by slowing everything down. It makes you wonder why you never heard how depressing the lyrics really are. Perspective. When I put together this mix, I was just selecting songs, but when I listened to the finished playlist, I realized how melancholic the overall tone is. Was I feeling down when I put it together? Maybe. You decide.
