Strange
This weekend my husband drove down to LA, dressed himself up in chainmail, and did re-enactments of Roman battles with other alleged grown-ups. I let him have these little hobbies because it's harmless, if expensive, and in return I get to spend time making fun of him on my blog and going out with my girlfriends. This time he dragged my son along with him, trying to instill one more of his nerd hobbies into my children. If they need a reason to play dress-up, Halloween is just around the corner. My boy already has his desert commando outfit planned. My tween daughter is doing something goth (surprise, surprise) and Dad, in keeping with his Roman fetish, will likely wear a toga. I haven't decided if I'm going to recycle last year's Grey Lady costume or come up with something new. For many years, I did the Vampire gig, but that has gone too mainstream. I'm NOT on Team Edward. In recalling Halloweens past, I did have some good ones. Roadkill was a favorite. And in college, I was once a Brick. My date, in student humor, was a Bricklayer. I've been a Bag of Jellybeans, a Killer Daisy, a Flock of Seagulls. Music for October is just like dressing up. You drag out the odd bits and pieces that don't seem to fit anywhere else. So here is my collection of the Weird, the Creepy, and the Strange. Enjoy, and send any costume ideas my way!
